Back in the early 1990s, four young guys from different walks of life began an unintended journey. One

was the organizer – the guy that made things happen. One was outgoing with a story for everything. One

was the purist who was able to deep-dive on all topics at hand. And, one was steady and quiet — the kind

of guy you’d trust with your life without needing a reason. Although different in their drives, they filled

holes in each other’s lives.

What started as a trip to see the Detroit Red Wings turned into decades of friendship…yes, decades of

road trips.

They were there for each other through everything — marriages, new jobs, babies being born, kids

graduating, funerals, celebrations, and every late-night conversation in between. Life moved fast, but

somehow the four of them never drifted apart. No matter how busy things were, they’d end up back

together — the trips became tradition.

The nickname started as a joke.

Remembering an old TV episode of M.A.S.H. where Colonel Potter and his 3 old war buddies had

pledged to have a drink from a vintage bottle on annual anniversaries, the four pledged to do the same.

They even had a special drink with “the four J’s” – Jack, Johnny, Jim and Jose – mixed to create a

diabolical toast. One of the first cheers was:

“Here come The Four Horsemen.”

The name stuck instantly.

Cigars eventually became part of the tradition. A good cigar marked the important moments —

promotions, victories, retirements, and those nights where nobody needed a reason to gather except to sit

together and talk.

So, when the idea came up to create their own cigar brand, there was really only one name it could carry…
